Planning, Packing, and Praying

It's crazy to think that it has been over two weeks since I accepted the job in Honduras.  So much has happened that it makes my head spin just thinking about it.  I think I finally have the big items all done (such as going to the bank, buying plane tickets, cell phone, insurance, etc.) and am now focusing on the little things.  I am doing a lot of thinking about my classroom and things I need to take.  This has been difficult because I don't know what it looks like. I am trying to take things that I can use in a variety of ways and will be constructive to the classroom environment.  The more I think about teaching 5th grade, the more excited I become.  I think this is going to be a great school year.

Right now, I am in a place where I am having to trust God completely.  I have had to put all my purchases and my plane tickets on a credit card because I don't have the money to pay for everything.  I am trusting that God is going to bring the support I need to help me cover my expenses.  At this time, I have bought plane tickets, appropriate weather gear for rainy season (raincoat and boots), bedding, curriculum for 5th grade, and classroom supplies.  Additionally, I will have the cost of my second and third bags for my flight and general expenses for the first month since we don't get a paycheck until the end of the month.  To fund all of this is going to cost $2,000.

If you would like to give a tax deductible gift to help me with my expenses, you can make a check out to Lakeview Wesleyan Church and put Honduras School in the memo line (address below).  You can include a note with my name, but please don't put my name on the check.  If you have questions, you can email me at brianna.boyce@myemail.indwes.edu or message me on Facebook.

I would also appreciate it if you would keep me in your prayers.  This next week and a half are going to be difficult as I leave my job where I have worked for four years, my church, my friends, and my family.

Blessings:
  1. My parents have been so supportive.  I couldn't do this without them.
  2. The Kids Kreek ministry at my church.  Those kids make me feel so loved.
  3. My plane ticket turned out to be cheaper than expected.
  4. I already have about 150 books in my classroom and a school library for the students to use!
  5. I got to spend some time with my cousins on Monday and celebrate Megan's 16th birthday.
Prayer Requests:
  1. I have to be immunized for Typhoid and am taking pills instead of shots.  While this is cheaper and lasts longer, it makes me feel like I have the stomach flu.
  2. My church is doing an "Amazing Race" family night on Friday that I am helping with.  Pray that the event is a great time for families to be together before school starts again.
  3. There are still a lot of things that I have to do before I leave.
  4. Pray that my stress level stays low.
  5. Pray for students.  While I don't even know their names, I know they are going to have a big impact on my life.
